We captured another “Second Place” finish–this time in Phoenix, missing a tie for first by TWO small strokes to nationally ranked St. Lawrence (out of New York). Currently, SLU is ranked #16 in the nation! So, the good news is that we are there–and we can play! We had an amazing trip to Phoenix, going from a chilly 40 degrees to 90 degrees in a 2 hour airplane ride! Then, we met up with a former player and alum (Nicole Hudson who graduated in May) and went to the Mariners vs. Padres spring training baseball game! It felt a bit strange to sit there in shorts and believe that just five days earlier we were in the rain at PumpkinRidge! Crazy!
Big Al and Lola (our AZ hosts!) rolled out the red carpet for all the teams! We had a wonderful dinner at their house and the First Lady of George Fox (Ruth Baker) and her daughters attended as well! Also in attendance was Sarah’s Mom, sister and nephew as well as back by popular demand, Whitney’s grandfather, who put on his Scottish kilt and put on a bagpipe performance for us all! He just keeps getting better and better!
We can’t wait to get back to Arizona next year! Our time there in the desert sun goes by way too fast!
